In 1973, my father took
early retirement from the telephone company in order
to fulfill his life-long desire to become a lay
minister. He and my mother traveled throughout the
U.S., holding bible studies and prayer meetings. They
also traveled and visited brethren in Canada,
England, New Zealand, and Australia. Later they went
on missionary trips to the Caicos Islands near the
Bahamas.
My mother painted this
Levitical priest as a teaching tool for dad when he
would present a study on the tabernacle in the
wilderness. For practical purposes, mom designed the
painting in such a way that it can be rolled up and
transported in a custom-made, cloth sleeve. My
parents carried the priest painting wherever they
went and helped many people understand the
significance of the priesthood.
